e-Verify Your Return

e-Verify within 30 days using Aadhaar OTP, net banking, bank account EVC or DSC. Without verification, ITR is not processed.

What is the last date to file ITR for AY 2026-27?

31st July 2026 for individuals and HUFs not subject to audit. 31st October 2026 for audit cases. Belated return can be filed by 31st December 2026 with late fees.

Which ITR form should salaried individuals file?

How to e-verify ITR after filing?

e-Verify within 30 days via Aadhaar OTP (most common), net banking, bank EVC, demat EVC or DSC. Without e-verification, your return is treated as not filed.

What happens if I miss the ITR filing deadline?

Late filing attracts penalty u/s 234F (₹1,000 to ₹5,000) and interest u/s 234A on outstanding tax. You also cannot carry forward certain losses and may lose some deductions.

Can I file ITR without Form 16?

Yes. Form 16 is a TDS certificate, not a mandatory document. You can file using salary slips, Form 26AS, AIS and bank statements.
